Well, it's accurate. Upstate New York, born and raised. And no, that does NOT mean New York City. Western New England news network is exactly what we speak.

| Which American accent do you have? Northern You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for. |

Unbelievable Update
Jul. 9th, 2009 | 07:14 am
The general feeling among moms of my acquaintance is that there are no pediatric dentists in our town who allows parents back with their kids. Most take them to general dentists because of this. One mom does go to that dental practice and thinks it's okay. I think she's crazy, but her husband IS a psychiatrist, so they'll be prepared to deal with the inevitable trauma.
Our dentist is 20 miles away but we love her. The staff is great, there are flat screen tvs above every exam chair to watch, and the kids get a token to get a toy at the end of the visit. My son's gums were very red and inflamed. We were worried about an abscess or something, but it turns out that since his permanent teeth are pushing through, his gums are just loose and floppy. Ick, I know. We got a special rinse to help tighten things up and he should be fine in a week or two.

Unbelievable
Jul. 8th, 2009 | 08:54 am
We need a pediatric dentist now that we're in a new place. Every dentist in our town that takes our dental insurance (a whopping three of 'em) has a policy of not allowing parents to go back into the treatment room with their kids. They claim it "builds trust". These are all male dentists, and the last thing in the world I'm going to do is hand my kids over to be alone in a room with a strange man. Or woman. How much trust can you build in twenty minutes every six months?

Mission Accomplished!
Jul. 7th, 2009 | 08:59 am
After two hours of pondering and cursing computer coding, not to mention a super-sore mouse arm, I have a new, pretty layout and am pretty pleased about it all.
I will be celebrating by teaching my daughter to ride with training wheels, my son to ride without training wheels, and showing up for a playgroup at the park that I'm only attending because I'm in charge of said playgroup.

I want a new journal style. Choosing between all the available ones is taking way too much time. I had an easier time choosing a wedding dress. Suggestions will be welcomed.

Anniversary Memery
Jul. 6th, 2009 | 01:12 pm
Lots of you flisters are doing this, and since tomorrow is my one-year anniversary of writing fanfic *sniff*, I offer this meme and wait for someone to take me up on it.
I'm glad to say that I've survived the initial angst/trauma/WTF? that "Journey's End" brought on. It wasn't easy, but we all made it through.
Inspired by Doctor Who's "Turn Left:" Pick one of my stories and tell me a point in the tale that you'd change -- something tiny or big -- and I'll tell you how that one difference would have altered the course of the entire story.
here's my master list

Book Challenge 2009

67. Take Me Two Times by Karen Kendall
68. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
69. Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder
70. The Last Dodo by Jacqueline Raynor
This was an audiobook, but I liked the storyline, and Freema is such a good actor.

Stay calm
Jun. 30th, 2009 | 04:18 pm
So this happened last year.
Today my now-three-year-old came into the kitchen smoothing down her beautiful blonde curls. She told me that she'd combed her hair. I was making raspberry jam and didn't really look at her.
An hour later I walked into my bathroom and saw the following on the sink: a comb. A mirror. Scissors. Wisps of blonde hair all over the floor.
Backtracked to three-year-old, and yup: her bangs are now all choppy and horribly, terribly mangled.
Did I mention that we were due to take professional photos for the first time in two years?

Character Questions Meme

Oh, why not? I have some free time today. Stolen from most of the flist.
Pick a character that I have written, or that you know I have substantial headcanon about, and ask any five questions about him/her. Be sure to specify whether you would like responses to be OOC (responding as the writer) or IC (responding as the character).
